It’s 2019 and I’m a 2 year full time employee at a Controls & Automation company, working 90 hour weeks. I was working all these hours and quickly realized I needed to put my hard earned money to work. I had no investment experience, no rich family member, and no family in real estate. The combination of the above would prevent many people from turning their dreams into a reality. This did not stop me and only made me want it even more.

I educated myself about real estate investing by attending seminars and listening to podcasts. While still working at 25, I built up enough courage to purchase my first investment property in London, Ontario. I self-managed this property to further develop my property management knowledge. I became obsessed with real estate and continued educating myself, while networking with accomplished investors.

After working 8-5 or longer, I continued to work 5-9 to build my real estate portfolio. I went from having no real estate connections or social media following to utilizing my power team, partners, and helping to educate others along my journey of purchasing 9 units. This illustrates how small, consistent steps accumulate to big actions, in order to achieve your goals and dreams!

Since becoming an Investor,

I continue to educate myself by networking, attending seminars, and joining various groups. With my continuously expanding real estate knowledge, I enjoy sharing this knowledge with others as my way of giving back. I continue to build and improve on various aspects of my real estate business, from marketing and process development to improving my power team. With these systems in place, it allows for effective and efficient streamlined processes that make all aspects of real estate investing pleasant and can be repeated for future acquisitions.

Each project undertaken has allowed me to take lessons learned and incorporate them into the systems, as part of risk mitigation. Taking action can be a daunting leap, but this is where I absolutely learned the most. I’ve gained experience in single family homes to multifamily buildings using the Value-Add strategy for long-term rentals!
